Attorney Bill Hesse and Leadership Director Henry Deneen both presented at a recent “Lunch and Learn” held by the SC Bar. Deneen presented his Emotional Intelligence (EI) training and Hesse taught on the basics of Auto Insurance.
From definition to application Hesse highlighted three main cases to know in auto insurance: GEICO v. POOLE 424 S.C. 1, 817 S.E.2d 283 (S.C. 2018) — SC law does not require punitive damages to be apportioned pro rata [BI & PD], USAA v. RAFFERTY, 28143, Appellate Case 2021-001390 (S.C. Mar 29, 2023) and NATIONWIDE v. GREEN, 28144, Appellate Case 2021-000243 (S.C. Mar 29, 2023) — SC Code § 38-77-160 requires automobile insurers to offer UIM PD coverage, and that coverage cannot be limited to an insured’s “covered auto”.
