The South Carolina Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) recently celebrated M&G Shareholder Anthony Livoti’s service as Chapter President for 2023.  As an invitation only organization of civil Plaintiff and Defense attorneys, ABOTA exists to promote and preserve the 7th Amendment right to a civil jury trial, while also advocating for civility in the profession and an independent judiciary.  The South Carolina Chapter is one of the leading and most active chapters in the nation, having produced three past National Presidents.

For Livoti, it was important during his time as President to maintain the excellent reputation of the chapter. Livoti set a goal to provide more opportunities for ABOTA members to interact with one another as well as with members of the judiciary. This goal was accomplished in August as ABOTA hosted a judicial panel and invited local members from the Columbia area to attend.

According to Livoti, it is important for ABOTA on a national and local level to continue maintaining the standards of excellence in civil trial practice, to maintain and promote an independent judiciary, and strive for civility in the profession.
