Founding Partner J.R. Murphy and Attorney Will Arnold obtained summary judgment in a recent US District court ruling in favor of a national automobile insurer. The issue involved whether a policy issued to a North Carolina company should be construed to include liability coverage for punitive damages for an accident that occurred in South Carolina. The court agreed with Attorneys Murphy and Arnold and ruled that the policy limitation was valid under N.C. law and the fact that the accident occurred in S.C. did not impact the analysis.
