John Douglas “J.D.” Elliott is an associate attorney with Murphy & Grantland. His practice focuses on construction defect cases, premises and products liability. Prior to joining M&G, J.D. served as a law clerk for The Honorable Thomas A. Russo and clerked at his father’s firm, Elliott & Elliott P.A. J.D. also gained experience clerking for the Senate Judiciary Committee and with Blair, Cato, Pickren, Casterline, LLC.

J.D. was named to the Dean’s List during his undergraduate studies at Clemson University. He then attended the University of South Carolina School of Law, during which time he contributed to articles in S.C. Lawyer and served as Articles Editor for “Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Journal.”

With a background as a journalist for the Seneca, South Carolina based, “The Journal,” and having served during law school as Secretary and Vice President of Sports and Entertainment Law Society, J.D. is both an accomplished writer and sports enthusiast.

In his free time, J.D. enjoys exploring Columbia with his wife, Mary Kate, and his dog, Scout. He also loves playing golf and watching Clemson football.
