Diana August
Associate
Diana August is a litigator who combines a rigorous, analytical approach with creative, outside-the-box thinking to defend clients in high-stakes legal matters. Her practice at Murphy & Grantland is centered on complex litigation, where she handles intricate disputes involving novel issues of law, business and commercial litigation, and insurance fraud investigations.
Diana is known for her meticulous attention to detail—a trait honed through her advanced studies in intelligence and her leadership roles within the community. She leverages this background to provide a strategic defense for insurers and businesses, ensuring that complex legal challenges are met with practical and innovative solutions.
Diana is admitted to all state and federal courts in the State of South Carolina and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Diana graduated cum laude from the University of South Carolina School of Law, where she received her J.D. in 2022. Diana served as the Senior Articles Editor for the South Carolina Law Review, President of the Christian Legal Society, President of the Labor and Employment Law Society, and a student member of the John Belton O’Neall Inn of Court. She made the Dean’s List and received the CALI award for Technology and Criminal Prosecution. Diana was also the recipient of the 2021 South Carolina Bar Employment & Labor Law Section Memorial Scholarship, the 2022 Capers Bouton Memorial Scholarship, and the Robert W. Foster, Sr. Alternative Dispute Resolution Award. She is a certified mediator through the Maryland Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution.
Diana earned a Master’s Degree in Intelligence and Security from the Citadel Graduate College. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of South Carolina.
Diana volunteers as a Guardian Ad Litem with Richland County CASA and attends First Presbyterian Church, Columbia, South Carolina, where she serves on the board for the Women of the Church. In her free time, Diana enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Diana earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2022. During her time there, she was a standout leader and scholar, serving as the Senior Articles Editor for the South Carolina Law Review and as President of both the Christian Legal Society and the Labor and Employment Law Society.
