Cordes Kennedy is a Partner with Murphy & Grantland where he defends individuals and businesses in serious personal injury matters.  His practice focuses on products liability, medical malpractice and professional negligence, premises liability, maritime matters, dram shop and general litigation.  He regularly represents national and local manufacturers and distributors, medical providers, retailers, motor carriers,  logistics companies, and professionals of all types.

Cordes received his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he graduated with honors.  He was the Senior Articles Editor for the South Carolina Law Review and a member of Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society (Calhoun Inn) and Student Bar Association.  He also served as a Peer Mentor to incoming students.  He received the CALI award for Secured Transactions and Advanced Legal Writing, and the award for Best Oral Argument in Legal Research and Writing.

Cordes excels at finding practical solutions to complex problems, and he strives to provide the highest quality legal services with uncompromising integrity and value.  He also understands that clients prioritize and deserve timely communication from their attorney, so he and his team are intentional about providing that uncommon service every day.

Cordes was born and raised in South Carolina.  He is an Eagle Scout, the President of the Columbia Clemson Club, and a member of the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association and Defense Research Institute.  He is a graduate of the South Carolina Defense Trial Lawyers Academy, and he serves on his firm’s Leadership and Business Development Board.

In his free time, he enjoys being with his wife and their two dogs, going to bluegrass concerts with friends, cooking (and eating) BBQ, and cheering on the Clemson Tigers and Atlanta Braves.
