Human TraffickingIn January 2016, South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson submitted the 2015 Human Trafficking Annual Report to Governor Nikki Haley. The report details the efforts of the South Carolina Human Trafficking Task Force in focusing on investigating and prosecuting human trafficking cases in South Carolina, as well as assisting and helping victims of human trafficking in the state.

The Task Force Report specifically recognized the attorneys of Murphy & Grantland, who provided pro bono legal counsel and advice to individual survivors of human trafficking and various service providers.

Attorney General Wilson commended the “Task Force members for their tireless work to address this issue in our state, and to determine the best course of action for ending human trafficking. For too long this crime went unacknowledged and overlooked. But we are now accepting that it is happening in our own neighborhoods. Last year we saw the first conviction under the 2012 law and we can anticipate more to come.”
