Jason Luther is an associate with Murphy & Grantland. His practice covers a variety of matters including trucking and transportation defense, business & commercial litigation, appellate law, insurance coverage & bad faith, premises liability, and product liability. He is admitted to practice law in both Federal and State courts. Prior to joining Murphy & Grantland in 2012, Jason practiced law briefly in Columbia before spending two years as a law clerk for the Honorable Dennis W. Shedd of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Jason is a proud graduate of Covenant College (Lookout Mountain, Georgia), where he received a Bachelor of Arts in History and served as the student body president. After helping found and manage a roofing and construction company in south Florida, he returned to Columbia to attend the University of South Carolina School of Law. While in law school, Jason served as editor in chief of the South Carolina Law Review and was a member of the Moot Court Bar.
In addition to being an active member of the Bar and numerous professional associations and organizations, Jason is also a Blackstone Legal Fellow, a past chairman of the Covenant College Young Alumni Board, and has been recognized as a South Carolina Super Lawyers® Rising Star (2014, 2016). Jason is a member of the South Carolina Bar’s Torts and Insurance Practice Section. This practice section focuses its attention on products liability, workers’ compensation, and wrongful death and survivor actions, in addition to matters related to automobile law, insurance law, and medical and legal malpractice and damages issues. He is 1 of 12 members in this practice section.
Jason is a native of Chapin, South Carolina, and is married to former Emily Suzette Joseph of Gaston, South Carolina. Jason and Emily have two sons, James Phillip and Joseph Everett, and are active members of the First Presbyterian Church of Columbia.
